It is also turns up regular spring and autumn migrants on it's golfcourse and around the nearby Alcan plant. As with most sea-watching on the east coast , it can be bitterley cold when exposed to an easterley wind here, but the rewards can be superb. The headland here is dominated by St Bartholomew's church and is known as 'church point' by birders. This point is the best spot to view the bay and sea, and boasts an impressive list of passage seabirds including little auk (inset pic). Under the right conditions, skuas, terns and auks
can be ingood numbers with divers preseent in Winter. This area has and is well watched by local 'patch' birders and therefore bird records are well maintained.

The nearby golf course and an area known as 'the mound' often turn up rarities especially in Autumn.
